Floating that state building

San Francisco Public Library
This is one of the best pictures! A tugboat towing the Ohio State building!

After the exposition closed, most of the buildings were torn down. A few lucky PPIE buildings had lives beyond the exposition and were moved to new locations. The Hoo-Hoo House was moved to Cupertino. One of the buildings of the Japanese Pavilion was moved to Ardenwood. The Ohio State Building was moved to San Mateo.

In the Story of the Exposition, "One of the serious problems was the removal of the foreign pavilions and State buildings. In many cases they were nothing but an encumbrance of the ground, as the commissioners did not want them any longer and there was no profit in their removal to other sites. Some were removed, it is true, though after long delay; and passengers on the Alameda County ferries were amazed one morning to see the classic Ohio Building gliding down the Bay on a raft, to become a club in the San Mateo County marshes—the strangest craft seen on these waters since Ayala sailed the "Toison de Oro" through the Heads."
