My Favorite by-the-fireside PPIE books

...that is if the weather weren't so nice.

So many good PPIE books are out there on google books, the Hathi Trust, the Internet archive, and here/there at institutions.

Lots of the nitty-gritty,
how it was done.
The Hathi Trust has all five volumes of The story of the exposition : being the official history of the international celebration held at San Francisco in 1915 to commemorate the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and the construction of the Panama Canal, Frank Morton Todd, 1921. You can choose between Harvard University or University of Michigan scans. Sometimes one version has better scans of photos.

If you can't remember if it is Frank Morton Todd, Todd Morton Frank, or Morton Todd Frank, remember his names are alphabetical.

Our library has all five volumes in their reference section.

Just published.

San Francisco's Jewel City, a very entertaining book on PPIE with lots of photos.  It is a good book to leave next to your fire or bed.

This has many good picures

The Blue Book, A Comprehensive Official Souvenir View Book is full of pictures of exhibits, buildings, palaces, and the Zone.

Those three are my favorites. There are lots of other books that are good to check. Here's a good list of books from U Penn online. We can let the author keep those links working. That's it from me.
